  • Nome: Nina Hirata
  • Bio: Nina S. T. Hirata holds a BSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science from IME-USP. She is currently an associate professor at IME-USP, doing teaching at graduate and undergraduate levels and researching in Image Processing, Image Analysis, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning, both on fundamental as well as applied research. Some of the current main projects she is involved are: SegmentIt (Interactive Image Segmentation Tool -- segmentit.sf.net), TriosLib (Training Image Operators from Samples -- trioslib.sf.net), ExpressMath (Recognition of Online Handwritten Mathematical Expression -- www.ime.usp.br/~nina/research/expressmath), VisionDataset (a web environment for storing, sharing and managing images and for developing and applying image processing and analysis methods -- http://escience.ime.usp.br/VisionDataset/), as well as applications in fields such as Astronomy, Oceanography, Pharmacology, Document Analysis, and Geophysics.
